Built To Spill puts on
Built To Spill puts on a great live show, even when Doug is sick and “can’t hit the high notes.” Andre and I went to see them at the House of Blues on the Sunset Strip, and I think Emily summed up the club best: “It’s what Disney thinks a blues club should look like.” Decor not withstanding, it was a lot of fun. They played all my old favorites off The Normal Years and There’s Nothing Wrong With Love as well as a couple of great covers (Velvet Underground’s What Goes On and closed with a cheeky cover of Freebird). I’ll never know of the Superchunk show that was the same night was better, but this was certainly good.
