I don’t typically like musicials, but Hedwig and the Angry Inch wasn’t a typical musical. It was witty and moving, the songs were great, and it didn’t hurt that Bob Mould played guitars on most of the soundtrack tracks. It looks as though a record label, with the help of the two guys who wrote the musical, are putting together a pretty incredible tribute record. The list of bands that have signed on is stunning, I feel like excerpting from the list would just slight the bands I didn’t name. It seems as though nobody has chosen Wig in a Box, which is probably my favorite song on the soundtrack. Given the style of the song, and the instrumentation, I nominate Belle & Sebastian to perform it.
