It’s been a crazy month
It’s been a crazy month, which I guess partially explains why I haven’t updated this site lately. In order of importance, pretty clearly the #1 item of the last month is that Emily and I got engaged a few weeks ago. I was given my grandmother’s engagement ring, and decided to have it re-set in Albany, since finding a jeweler in Los Angeles seemed like a daunting task. With the jeweler being on vacation, needing to order the particular band, and then the shipping to the west coast, it seemed like it took forever. When I finally had the ring, I took Em to dinner at Wolfgang Puck’s Chinois on Main. We had a spectacular meal (the mongolian lamb chops with cilantro sauce was one of the best dishes i’ve ever had), and then walked down to the beach. I was a little worried that the beach would be full of loitering hoodlums looking to hijack the engagement ring I had in my pocket. That wasn’t the case, and the beach was gorgeous in the moonlight. It feels much smaller at night, what is normally a giant expanse of water becomes a wall of darkness and the sound of the surf envelops you. After a short walk to a secluded part of the beach, I popped the question, and she said yes. So, we’re working out details now, but it’s looking like we’ll get married next summer back in Ithaca.

Congratulations! Was she expecting it? Or do you often take her to fine restaurants and walks on the beach? Have you told her you are a geek yet? You can’t save that til after the wedding. You iwll need a sidecar for the Suzuki.
Also, I admire your restraint at not bragging about your iPod (yet).

Yay! Wedded bliss awaits you, plus lots of crystal punch bowls and overpriced china.
