Aimee Mann’s Weird Fans
Emily and I went down to the House of Blues in Anaheim to see Aimee Mann last night. It was a great show with a weird crowd. Aimee Mann’s voice was great, the band played in a manner very faithful to the albums. The crowd was populated with mid-thirties white couples who were very clearly on a ‘night out’ away from their kids at Disneyland. It didn’t matter if they’d never heard of Aimee Mann, they’d had enough of The Mouse. Another huge contingent were the older (unclear what the actual ages were) single women with the feathered hair and other atrocious haircuts. One next to us would sing along with every song, dance around like a moron, and kept giving the thumbs up to the stage.
The Thumbs Up at a concert is the absolute loser with no sense of irony’s version of the sign of the devil at a rock show. Black Shirt Feathered Hair Woman, if you are reading this: STOP IT. SERIOUSLY.

That was the funniest review that I have
ever read.
I’m going to the Ford Theater tomorrow night to see Beth Orton and Aimee Mann.
It’s an Amnesty International event. I imagine that it will also be an unusual crowd.
