It crossed my mind that you might consider that a possibility…

After hearing how important and

After hearing how important and influential he is/was, and then hearing Roadrunner a bunch of years ago and dismissing the song, I saw Jonathan Richman open for Belle & Sebastian at the Wiltern last fall. B&S were incredible, but their 14 piece ensemble was nearly upstaged by a man on stage with an acoustic guitar, accompanied by a guy with a snare drum. A nearly perfect showman, he sang, he danced, and he genuinely seemed like he was having a great time. He’s coming back to LA, playing 3 nights at a tiny club called the Silver Lake Lounge. If I can get tickets, I’ll be there. Have a listen, realize how great he is, and then find out if he’s playing in your town.

If you’ve been to cities, but you’ve had enough,
have you been to Paris, France?
And if you doubt that Paris was made for love,
give Paris one more chance.
The home of Piaf and Chevalier,
must have done something right to get passion this way!
If you don’t think paris was made for love,
give Paris one more chance!

  1. I’ve long been a fan of Jonathan Richmond (Belle & Sebastian as well!). One of my good friends (and a former boyfriend) introduced me to Jonathan Richmond over 4 years ago! I’ve seen him live a few times, always a great show.

My favorite is an older song “The Neighbors” (he later ruined it by doing some country version of it). Isn’t that how it always works?!

  2. Shh! Why are you publicizing it!? The place is going to be packed as it is!
