I just accepted a new job. I’m going to be working with my friend Andy at Dimensional Fund Advisors, an asset management company in Santa Monica, as a software developer. They do pretty cool work based on research done at the University of Chicago. I’m definitely excited about going to work there, and hopefully i’ll get an opportunity to flex my economics chops in addition to my computer science ones.

The biggest change this job is going to bring to my life (other than not working from home) is that I actually have to wear a shirt and tie to work. I was forced to go shopping, and my dress clothes collection has nearly tripled. It’s all about permutations! 8 ties, 8 or 9 shirts and 6 or 7 pairs of slacks means LOTS (448 to be precise) different outfits, assuming i’m not worrying about matching.
