If you ever get the chance to watch Sugar & Spice, the movie about teenage bankrobbing cheerleaders, don’t. There have been a lot of geniunely funny teen movies, and this seemed like it had all the right parts. An interesting story idea, an adept cast, competent direction, a great score (by Mark Mothersbaugh who scored all of Wes Anderson’s brilliant films)..but the writing was terrible. The writers just weren’t funny enough, and even when they hit on with a joke, they proceeded to explain it into the ground, which wrecked it. It had potential, and fell really flat.
