I have a Tivo and got the advertisement that Matt talked about and I have a decidedly different take on it. I think this is an interesting take on advertising, a relatively unobtrusive one, and quite a few steps ahead of the curve. While it isn’t really targeted, they’re doing what TV pundits have claimed for years that interactive television is going to do. While ReplayTV is getting sued by the TV networks, Tivo is trying to build a business model that will keep them going for the indefinite future. I thought that the advertising was relatively tasteful, and I don’t have any interest in opting out of it.
