we’ve been in los angeles since saturday morning, and i think we’re starting to see the light at the end of the move-in tunnel. after an unsuccessful trip to goodwill, we made a pretty serious pilgramage to the ikea in burbank. we came out furniture-heavy and light in the wallet. we got a dining room table and chairs, an entertainment shelf, a desk for me, and a lamp. we bought two big bookshelves at office depot, and then on a recommendation from paul, we ended up getting our couch custom built for us at the designer furniture outlet. It’s grey, pretty cool, and will be ready in 2-3 weeks.

yesterday my cousin jamie came into LA from the desert, and helped us move. it was about a 6 hour job (with a lunch break). when we finally finished, we opened up a 12 pack and then jamie made dinner with the somewhat meager supplies we’d gotten at the store the other day, while trying to dig our cooking equipment out of boxes.

we took some ‘before’ pictures of our apartment, and then some pictures of the place when all the boxes had been moved in. in the next couple days, i hope we’ll have everything put away, and then i’ll put up pictures in a sort of before & after comparison. slowly but surely, it’s beginning to feel like home.
