we rented quills yesterday, and i have to say that it is a crime that geoffrey rush didn’t win the oscar for best actor. gladiator was ok for a grand action film (it was no braveheart), but russell crowe’s role didn’t require much depth.

I also saw bullitt a few days ago, and it was interesting. it was almost more of a character study than it was an action movie. steve mcqueen did a lot of brooding and looking intense. that said, the car chase was amazing. i think what makes it even more incredible is that steve mcqueen was doing all of his own driving. in gone in sixty seconds, nicolas cage had to not only have stunt drivers, but also needed computer graphics and special effects to make his car chases intense.
