I really like my laptop,
I really like my laptop, and next year when I set up a 802.11 network it will be even cooler, cause i’ll have internet access anywhere in my apartment. But it takes too long to boot, it runs pretty hot, and the form factor isn’t really conducive to lying on the couch using it. I think that my next big tech purchase will be a web tablet, if they start making them. Ideally, it would have 802.11 networking, the OS stored on flash of some sort so boot time was only a couple seconds, and no hard disk. Maybe some flash memory for storing bookmarks and things like that, that’s fine. But I think almost everything else (documents, media) should be stored over the network. This laptop was linked on slashdot today and I think that it’s pretty cool. When using it in tablet mode, one could keep the IR keyboard handy if you had to enter a lot of text. I guess I don’t really care what OS this thing runs, Windows XP, CE, BeIA, Linux, QNX..as long as it’s got a stable, standards compliant web browser. and a nice email client.
